Pastor Aaron is leading an international mission trip to the Republic of Georgia from June 23-July 1, 2017. We will be joining 30 of our brothers and sisters in Christ as they come across the border from the country of Azerbaijan to meet us in Georgia for a Christian conference. Azerbaijan is a "closed" country and Christians are often persecuted for their faith. We will be learning what life as a Christian in a closed country is like as well as helping to facilitate discussion groups around the CASKET (Old Testament survey) material, which Pastor Aaron will be teaching. We will need discussion group leaders as well as a few people to put on a three-day program for the children. If you're interested in participating in the trip, then please contact Pastor Aaron at the church office. We will have a brief information/Q&A meeting after church on Sunday, Nov. 20 in Room 200.
FBC has been invited to participate in a community Thanksgiving Service on Tues., Nov. 22, at the First United Methodist Church at 7:00 PM. The theme of the service will be "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1Thess 5:18). The FBC Praise Team will be leading worship. Preachers will be Valerie Waibel (pastor of Lindenwald United Methodist Church), Craig Pinley (pastor of Redeemer Church), Greg Andrews (House of Deliverance ministries), and John Lewis (pastor of The Presbyterian Church). An offering will be received for the Community Thanksgiving Meal to be hosted at Zion Lutheran Church on Thanksgiving Day for anyone to attend.
The Salvation Army is once again sponsoring the Adopt-A-Child or Adopt-An-Angel program. We are asking the church family to become involved in helping the less fortunate. We need your kind hearts to help out the families that are less fortunate in our own community. There are many families in need. Without you, this program would not be possible. The Salvation Army does a great job helping families in our local area, Butler County. That is very important!
We will have the names available Sunday, November 8th. Please look for Mike Gipson in the connector to get your names.
Thanks for the past years you have helped and let's make this a great year as we help those less fortunate families in Butler County!
It's time for our yearly Mitten Tree to appear! Please watch out for scarves, hats, gloves and even coats on sale. The Mitten Tree will be in the foyer by the adult library. We are blessed to be able to clothe many families in warm gear and as the days get colder please spare a thought to continuing this great tradition at First Baptist Church. We will be able to gift these blessing to help local families stay warm this winter. Handmade items are always welcome too, so be you a knitter, crocheter, fleece creator or a shopper, remember the Mitten Tree!
