Miami Association Fall Retreat

Hey all just wanted to let everyone know that this year the Miami Baptist Associations Fall Retreats have been cancelled.  This was a hard decision to make but after a gathering of youth leaders and discussing the anticipated attendance for both retreats it was concluded to cancel the retreats for this year.  However, please check your calendars for November 20-21 as we as a CREW may be doing some sort of overnight at that time to still give us the time together in God’s Word.  Please feel free to give Jeremy your suggestions on any ideas that may be beneficial.

Upcoming Lifeline Schedule

Hey all I hope you are having a great August as you gear up for school to start in just a few short weeks. I wanted to update you on the Lifeline schedule so you know what to expect. There have been some changes so please make a note of it.

August 11: Extended Lifeline night from 6:00pm-11:30pm in the CREW Room. I will have pizza, drinks, and other food; you bring the people. Bring dark clothes for out night games after it cools off in the evening.

August 18th: Wet N Wild night part 2 will be here and you won’t want to miss this evening. Bring your own water gun, if you have one if not I have some, and clothes to get wet in. 200 plus slip n slide will be set up just for you.

August 25th: Bring your friends as we celebrate the end of summer with an Ice Cream Eating Contest. We will also be talking about the GOSPEL and how it should affect our life each day.

September 1: Team building and Camp like activities during CREW to help us become the best CREW Members we can be. Bring tennis shoes to wear that evening as we will be doing some running and other movement activities.

If you have any questions please let me know and remember I am here for you.

Be God’s,
Jeremy

Team Haiti 2010 Update

Hey all we have received a number of photos today from our group in Cape Haitien, Haiti and you can see them at the end of this message. Spirits seem to be high in spite of the scorching temperatures and the work they have completed on the roof project.

As their time in Haiti is coming to a close they will be visiting an orphanage tomorrow (Friday). Please pray for the strength they need as they hug and love on the orphans and poor in Haiti. It reminds me of my favorite verse found in John 14 verse 18: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” They are reminding the people of Haiti that God still cares about them just as much as he cares about those of us who are blessed in America. How have you shared God’s love and grace to this week?

Please also pray for their travel to and from the orphanage as it is about an 2 hour travel each way. You may remember the infrastructure in Haiti is non-existent so this travel is not like you or I going to Columbus in back but instead will be a rough, slow, and bumpy ride.

Beyond this please pray for their safe return on Saturday. The tropical storm, Colin, is far enough east of the United States that it should pose no problems for our teams return. Now we just need to pray for on time departures, arrivals, quick time going through customs, and that all their luggage comes with them.

This may also be the final update as I will not be around most of tomorrow afternoon because of traveling with my wife for a day trip to Michigan. When you see Ruthie Wallace please say “Thanks” and give her a big hug because without her forwarding the pictures on to me could we have stay connected like we did. Thanks Ruthie and may God continue to bless you, John, and all the kids.

Be God’s,
Jeremy

Day 3 Update and Pictures

Heard from the team last night and the heat is definitely an issue we need to pray for. It is supposed to be around 105 or so in Haiti today so please continue to pray for strength, hydration, breeze, and energy to make it another day while working hard on a roof 3 stories up. They put a “tarp-like” material on the trusses they built yesterday as you can see in one of the pictures.

Another note of good news the tropical storm Colon which was brewing in the Atlantic seems to have weakened a bit and may not be as much of an issue as before. Keep praying for that to continue to be the case. Enjoy the pictures and I should be posting more today when we hear from the team.
