During the summer on Wednesday nights, we will be studying “13 Very Cool Stories that Jesus told-and Why He told them!”. Each week, we will have crafts, snacks, and lots of fun! And of course, we always have time for the playground! There will also be a “Wet n Wild” night on August 4th. We will break out the swimming pool, have water games and our water slide.

August 11th is a very special Wednesday night for the girls! We will be having a “Princess Party”. This is to celebrate the end of Ruthie Wallace’s Bible study, “The Princess Diaries” with the older girls and bring all the girls ages K-5th together for a special event by the Veggie Tales people that’s called “Sweet Pea Beauty”. Look for details that will be posted around church during July and look in the mail for your very own special invitation! Bring a friend and maybe even your mom, aunt, grandma, or special lady with you. We haven’t forgotten the guys! We will have a special night for you with games, etc.

First Baptist will be sending a team of eleven people to Cap Haitien this summer. We will be flying to Fort Lauderdale on Friday, July 30th and staying there overnight in order to catch a 6:00 AM flight directly to Cap Haitien. We will be returning home on Saturday, August 7th. Cap Haitien is a city of almost 200,00 on the north shore of Haiti. It has a rich history as a sea port.

At this time we understand that the team will be helping to rebuild the roofs of some of the dormitories at one of the universities in Cap Haitien that were damaged during the earthquake. The team will be working in conjunction with American Baptist International Ministries and with Nzunga Mabudiga, who spoke at our church this spring. As with all mission trips the team will be faithful in serving these people in any way that we can. Please pray for us as we prepare for this trip, during our travel and while we are in Haiti. The team members are: Mike, Dale, Josh, and Joe Braun, Heather and Todd Keith, Mara Krall, Judy Malen, Dennis Metzger, Laurin Sprague, Cathi Thomas, John Wallace, Mark Whipple, and Lillie Wilson. Thank you.

Do you have a hero? Someone that you look up to for support or love? We will finding out that there were people in the Bible that did tremendous things for God that we never knew their name! You can make a big difference in the lives of your family or friends, maybe someone that you don’t even know that won’t know your name either.

At Hero Headquarters, kids will…. Experience Bible stories in a variety of ways and explore how to be heroes for God. Have yummy snacks, create awesome crafts, and sing energetic songs!

Heroes do the UNEXPECTED! A servant girl speaks up, and God’s power heals Naaman. 2 Kings 5:1-14
Heroes take ACTION! Shepherds see baby Jesus and tell everyone about the Saviour. Luke 2:1-20
Heroes step out on FAITH! An army office goes to Jesus and Jesus heals his servant. Matthew 8:5-10,13
Heroes SAVE the day! A boy shares his food, and Jesus feeds more that 5,000 people!
Heroes stand for TRUTH! A young man shows courage and Paul lives to serve Jesus. Acts 23:12-24

Our Hero Headquarters is home to 3 very special heroes.

● Maintenance Mac
Armed only with his trusty tool belt and his exceptional ability to improvise, Mac keeps things running at Hero HeadQuarters. He’s the go-to guy when you need something done right and done fast-and all the heroes know it. Mac’s the only one in town who can save the day using only a stick of gum, a set of dentures, and a pack of ramen noodles! But he’s more than just a man with a mega-mind. Mac’s gracious attitude and desire to help others make him a true hero in every sense of the word . . . whether he knows it or not.

● Water Woman
As you might guess, Water Woman makes a splash wherever she goes! But when it comes to being a superhero, she’s a bit drippy. Water Woman’s heart is definitely in the right place, but she needs a boost in confidence. She is so afraid to make a mistake that she tends to be over-cautious and miss opportunities to help people because she hesitates. During her time at Hero HeadQuarters, Water Woman is learning to trust in God’s power and to have the guts to just dive in!

● Pizza Man
Holy Pepperoni, why is this guy always in such a hurry? Because everything has to be done in 30 minutes or less! Pizza Man is constantly rushing in and out trying to get dozens of things done at once. He’s so busy juggling details that he often overlooks people and situations that are right in front of him. As he spends time at Hero HeadQuarters, Pizza Man is starting to see that he can be a hero right where he is. He just needs to slow down and take the time to pay attention to God’s call.

There will be a completed 6th grade class again this year. We love one last opportunity to have you join us for this VBS. Next year, we will love having you help out! Dale Braun and crew will be the energetic and awesome teacher for your group. You won’t want to miss out on that!!!

VBS closing program is on Friday, July 16th, at 11:30 a.m. The kids will be sharing things they have learned throughout the week and how they have learned to be a hero to others, and most importantly to Jesus! The program will be followed by a light lunch and delivered by none other than one of our heroes for the week-Pizza Man. Yes, I said PIZZA!!!!
We hope to see you there.

Donations For VBS Teachers’ Snack Room

Please mark you calendars now for VBS: July 12-16.
